3/4” Plywood parts

I also traced patterns for the other plywood parts that I will need to cut, including the centerboard, rudder, stem, and transom.  The books are to flatten the templates (the paper was originally rolled and really wanted to curl back up).

Marine plywood was hard to find so when I found a sheet of 3/4” ply locally, I bought it the next day. I used the paper templates to lay out the pieces to fit them all on a 4x8 sheet.  It was a tight fit so very little waste, yay.

I copied the paper patterns to the plywood and cut an oversized blank for each part. I’ll have to use carbon paper later (for what feels like the 50th time) to trace each piece so I can cut it to final size on the band saw, but for now I just wanted to cut the 4’x8’ sheet into more manageable sized pieces to get it out of the way.
(Clockwise from top: centerboard, floor timbers, stems, rudder, and transom)

I decided to try to cut these directly to final size on the band saw rather than making MDF templates. I just got the band saw so this is my first time using it but after just a few days I am able to pretty accurately make a smooth cut that follows a line. Plus I only need to make one of each of these parts (except the stem which is doubled to make a single 1.5” thick part) so a template feels like overkill.
